The money chase is veiled behind the concerns that Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix, is outdated. Really the powers that be in the F1 world would love to open up another market by replacing the British race with a new event in a new market.
The amount of coverage that F1 receives in Britain would easily be offset by the benefit of opening a new market for all the team sponsors and the F1 brand. From a team sponsors viewpoint you might loss a few brand impressions in Britain but you’ll receive several million new ones. In Britain you’ve already likely got your message across with the regular media coverage of all the other F1 races.
So really its not about Silverstone. If it really was about Silverstone everyone would only be talking about what can be done to save the race at Silverstone.
